A Harvest Festival of Food comes to Malvern Autumn Show

TV chef Tom Kerridge headlines food at Malvern Autumn Show, in association with Westons Cider Visitors Centre, in less than two weeks’ time. Taking to the stage, Britain’s best-loved publican celebrates the wealth of produce showcased at this ultimate harvest festival event. Otter Farm’s Mark Diacono hosts the Cookery Theatre throughout the weekend and a carefully selected collection of producers bring a buzzing Local Food Market to life with the latest and greatest flavours from the three counties and further afield.

As a local lad to one of our three counties, Gloucester boy Tom Kerridge is the perfect chap to be heading up our food offering at Malvern Autumn Show and his demonstrations are sure to be a real highlight of this year’s event.”

Tom’s demonstrations on Saturday of the event showcase recipes from some of his best selling cookbooks. Dishes are given a local twist as Tom incorporates ingredients from producers selling their wares at the show. A starter of Smoked Eel with Pear, Lime and Szechuan Pepper, followed by Pork Tenderloin Schnitzel with an ‘Executive’ Fried Egg and a pudding of Plum Fool with Pink Peppercorns and Shortbread are just some of the dishes visitors can expect.

Cookery Theatre host Mark Diacono brings his flare for food and inspiration from his seven critically acclaimed cookbooks to Malvern Autumn Show. Mark has a long association with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage, having lead the gardening team throughout the hit Channel 4 series. A specialist in growing unusual edibles on his own smallholding, Otter Farm, nicknamed ‘climate change farm’, Mark delights in concocting cocktails and deliciously simple dishes where flavours and fresh ingredients shine.
Eager young foodies can enjoy the delights of Olly Blanc, son of legendary chef Raymond Blanc, as he hosts workshops to inspire the next generation of gastronomic talent. In collaboration with his foodie father, Olly is the founder of the app, Henri Le Worm. The app aims to educate and entertain young culinary stars with an interactive narrative where insect based characters tell the story of produce and how to prepare it. Former editor of The English Garden magazine, Tamsin Westhorpe, joins Olly as together they host sessions on easy-peasy veg growing and much more.

Reigning champion of smash hit BBC series MasterChef: The Professionals, Mark Stinchcombe, also Head Chef of Eckington Manor, is in attendance. His Cookery Theatre demonstrations share his passion for locally grown produce and imaginative menus.

Bringing the fruits of the orchard into the kitchen, food historian, period cook and broadcaster Seren Evans-Charrington offers talks and demonstration on preserve, chutney and jam making at home. Seren’s experience includes time working with household food brands including Kenwood, alongside a handful of television and national media appearances on nostalgic shows such as ITV’s Country House Sunday, BBC1’s Holiday of a Lifetime with Len Goodman and BBC4’s Castle’s Under Siege to name but a few.

Malvern Autumn Show’s Local Food Market is a first stop for foodies. Rumbling tums can enjoy tastes from a plethora of producers and street food stalls.

Sweet treats include a decadent selection of marshmallows from Cottage Sweets with flavours including Coconut, Gooseberry, Lemon, Mint and many more. A selection of homemade sweet and savoury flapjacks is on offer from The Flapjackery. Flapjack flavours include Sticky Toffee Pudding, Rocky Road, Devon Cream Team, Smoked Chocolate & Seasalt and Devon Cheddar & Chilli.

Thirsty visitors can enjoy a tipple while reclining on straw bales in the Westons Cider Garden, brought to the show by headline sponsor Westons Cider Visitor Centre. In the Local Food Market, Boozey Belles bring vintage inspired fruit infused vodkas in flavours including White Chocolate, Peach and Raspberry.

Malvern Autumn Show takes place on Saturday 24 September and Sunday 25 September. Tickets are now on sale. Advance tickets are priced at £16 for adults and £5 (aged between 5 – 15 years) Tickets are available on the gate at £19 for adults and £7 for children. Family tickets (2 adults, 3 children aged between 5 - 15 years) are priced at £37 when purchased in advance and £45 on the gate. Group and concession tickets are available.
