RHS Chelsea Day tickets sell out as Britain gets set to celebrate the best in gardening

Wednesday 7 May 2014

Standard day tickets all gone to the world’s most famous gardening event, RHS Chelsea Flower Show, sponsored by M&G Investments 20 – 24 May 2014

All standard day tickets to this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show, sponsored by M&G Investments, sold out on Friday 2 May 2014, 19 days before the show opens to RHS members on Tuesday 20 May.

The event, one of the hottest tickets in town, showcases and celebrates the very best in gardening, with stunning show gardens, world class horticultural displays and fantastic shopping opportunities.

Sue Biggs, RHS Director General, says: “Once again the cream of the gardening world, from leading designers to specialist nurseries, have created awe-inspiring content which is so wonderfully exciting and spectacular that RHS Chelsea is a sell out show.

Horticultural highlights at the 101st show include a garden by renowned garden designer, Cleve West for the show sponsor, M&G Investments, the return of the Rich brothers, who are two of the youngest Show Garden designers, with a garden for Irish energy provider Bord Na Mona and over 100 exhibits in the Great Pavilion, predominantly from nurseries and florists, and around 250 shopping stands across the site. In addition, as one of Britain’s best loved gardeners, there’s no doubt that Alan Titchmarsh’s return to create a garden with Kate Gould, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Britain in Bloom and his own 50 years in horticulture, has been an additional draw.”

Sue continues, “Please can I urge people not be tempted to buy tickets from touts as you can’t be guaranteed that the tickets they are selling are authentic and you may be refused entry to the show.

“There is still a chance to buy our new special RHS Chelsea Appeal tickets, for entry to the show on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 May, where proceeds will go towards horticultural apprenticeships. Instead of lining the pockets of ticket touts, 100% of the profits raised from these £400 tickets will help to make a real difference to the future of horticulture and give people an amazing opportunity to start their career in one of the best industries in the world. With a skills crisis in horticulture, not only will people be supporting a vital initiative by buying one of these special tickets, but they’ll also get Fast Track entry, freedom to exit and re-enter the showground during the day, an RHS goodie bag, re-entry to the sell-off on Saturday 24 May as well as exclusive access to RHS Chelsea and be able to enjoy the show after it has closed its gates to the public.”

Demand for tickets is also strong for the world’s largest annual gardening event, the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show (8 -13 July 2014) and the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park in Cheshire (23 - 27 July 2014).

About the RHS
The Royal Horticultural Society was founded in 1804 by Sir Joseph Banks and John Wedgwood for the encouragement and improvement of the science, art and practice of horticulture. We held our first flower shows in 1820, were granted a Royal Charter in 1861 and acquired RHS Garden Wisley in 1903. From our first meetings in a small room off London’s Piccadilly, we have grown to become the world’s largest gardening charity.

Today the RHS is committed to providing a voice for all gardeners. We are driven by a simple love of plants and a belief that gardeners make the world a better place. 210 years on we continue to safeguard and advance the science, art and practice of horticulture, creating displays that inspire people to garden. In all aspects of our work we help gardeners develop by sharing our knowledge of plants, gardens and the environment.
