Great fun for all the family
RHS Garden Hyde Hall, near Chelmsford, will be hosting a summer garden party on 29–30 June 2013, providing a great opportunity for friends and family to gather and celebrate the great British summer. With children's activities, music and dancing, delicious local produce, and garden tours and talks, you're guaranteed a wonderful day out.
There will be a host of events to keep the little ones amused, including Punch & Judy shows, donkey rides, paper-making, a teddy bear’s hospital, the Higgledy Hyde play tower and family garden games. Music will be provided by the Rob Blackman Guitar Trio performing a range of country and jazz favourites, and a traditional-style barrel organ will be playing popular melodies of yesteryear and today. The Colchester Morris Men will also be giving performances throughout the day on Saturday.
Visitors will be able to enjoy the gorgeous sights and smells of the Hyde Hall Rose Gardens and pick up tips from the Hyde Hall team. Lucy Halsall, editor of Grow Your Own magazine, will be giving inspiring sessions on growing vegetables in containers, and on successful propagation. There will also be lots of sweet treats to tempt your taste buds at the local produce market, with ice-cream, fudge, jams, honey and cupcakes – all of which can be washed down nicely with some wine and cider.
Be sure to see the special exhibition taking a nostalgic look back over the past 100 years of the iconic RHS Chelsea Flower Show, and also to admire the contemporary African sculpture by Guruve that will be found throughout the garden.

About the RHS
The Royal Horticultural Society was founded in 1804 by Sir Joseph Banks and John Wedgwood for the encouragement and improvement of the science, art and practice of horticulture. We held our first flower shows in 1820, were granted a Royal Charter in 1861 and acquired RHS Garden Wisley, the first of our gardens, in 1903. From our first meetings in a small room off London’s Piccadilly, we have grown to become the world’s largest gardening charity.
Today the RHS is committed to providing a voice for all gardeners. We are driven by a simple love of plants and a belief that gardeners make the world a better place. 209 years on we continue to safeguard and advance the science, art and practice of horticulture, creating displays that inspire people to garden. In all aspects of our work we help gardeners develop by sharing our knowledge of plants, gardens and the environment.
RHS membership is for anyone with an interest in gardening. Support the RHS and secure a healthy future for gardening. For more information call: 0845 130 4646, or visit www.rhs.org.uk/join
