Thursday 28 March 2013
RHS National Rhododendron Show at RHS Garden Rosemoor on Saturday 20 April – Sunday 21 April.
RHS Garden Rosemoor will be bursting with blooms when it hosts the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) National Rhododendron Show and Competition, on 20–21 April. For the first time the show will be combined with the South West Camellia and Magnolia Show and, with nurseries from as far afield as Oxfordshire and Hampshire, it promises more spring colour than ever before.
Visitors will be able to enjoy the magnificent displays of rhododendrons, camellias and magnolias – including an unusual late yellow magnolia - as well as trade and advice stands. Amongst others, Kevins Plants of Salisbury, the Cornwall Garden Society, Stretegate Camellias and Marwood Hill Gardens will bring spectacular plant exhibits, and the Garden Team from Rosemoor will create a ‘woodland garden’ as the centrepiece of the show tent.
Experts and amateurs alike will compete for prizes in the RHS Rhododendron Competition at the show. Free to enter, and open to all visitors wishing to take part, there are prizes* available for the best blooms.
Show visitors will also be able to buy bulbs and plants in the Rosemoor Shop and Plant Centre, and the RHS will be on hand to provide expert gardening advice.
There will also be plenty of opportunities to enjoy the spring colour in the garden with displays of rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias and magnolias, as well as swaths of daffodils and other spring plants.
To visit the National Rhododendron Show and Competition, normal garden admission to RHS Garden Rosemoor applies – free for RHS members. There is free entry all year round to the Rosemoor Shop and Plant Centre, as well as to the Garden Kitchen Restaurant.

About the RHS
The Royal Horticultural Society was founded in 1804 by Sir Joseph Banks and John Wedgwood for the encouragement and improvement of the science, art and practice of horticulture. We held our first flower shows in 1820, were granted a Royal Charter in 1861 and acquired RHS Garden Wisley, the first of our gardens, in 1903. From our first meetings in a small room off London’s Piccadilly, we have grown to become the world’s largest gardening charity.
Today the RHS is committed to providing a voice for all gardeners. We are driven by a simple love of plants and a belief that gardeners make the world a better place. 200 years on we continue to safeguard and advance the science, art and practice of horticulture, creating displays that inspire people to garden. In all aspects of our work we help gardeners develop by sharing our knowledge of plants, gardens and the environment.
RHS membership is for anyone with an interest in gardening. Support the RHS and secure a healthy future for gardening. For more information call: 0845 130 4646, or visit www.rhs.org.uk/join
