No charge to general public on ‘Free Day Friday’ 8 November
Visitors to RHS Garden Rosemoor, in Great Torrington, will have two reasons to celebrate on Friday 8 November. The garden will opens its doors for free, and also offer the expertise of leading London auction firm Bonhams, which will be at the garden to value antiques and collectables throughout the day.
As well as enjoying the sensational autumn colours of plants such as cornus, acers, liquidambars and many other trees and shrubs in the garden, visitors will be able find more about the events, courses and workshops at the garden in 2014, including craft, food and antiques fairs, music and outdoor theatre, family fun days, garden walks and talks.
Bonhams is one of the world’s oldest and largest auctioneers of fine art and antiques, and will be at the garden to offer free valuations to any visitors bringing along their special possessions from 11am to 4pm. Its experts will be able to value all kinds of collectables from paintings to jewellery, ornaments, clocks, furniture, and even vintage vehicles – in fact, virtually every type of antique. *
Sally Charleton, Head of Site at RHS Garden Rosemoor, said: “Free entry to our gardens is one of the special benefits of RHS membership, and we are delighted to extend this to all of our visitors. Autumn is such a glorious time of year at the garden, and we’re keen to share it with as many people as possible, both our regular visitors and those who may never have explored what Rosemoor has to offer before.”

About the RHS
The Royal Horticultural Society was founded in 1804 by Sir Joseph Banks and John Wedgwood for the encouragement and improvement of the science, art and practice of horticulture. We held our first flower shows in 1820, were granted a Royal Charter in 1861 and acquired RHS Garden Wisley, our flagship garden, in 1903. From our first meetings in a small room off London’s Piccadilly, we have grown to become the world’s largest gardening charity.
Today the RHS is committed to providing a voice for all gardeners. We are driven by a simple love of plants and a belief that gardeners make the world a better place. 209 years on we continue to safeguard and advance the science, art and practice of horticulture, creating displays that inspire people to garden. In all aspects of our work we help gardeners develop by sharing our knowledge of plants, gardens and the environment.
RHS membership is for anyone with an interest in gardening. Support the RHS and secure a healthy future for gardening. For more information call: 0845 130 4646, or visit www.rhs.org.uk/join
