Hop into Easter at the RHS Gardens

Thursday 27 March 2014

Easter events throughout the holidays, 5 – 21 April

We're celebrating Easter with a colourful programme of activities at the four RHS Gardens for all the family to enjoy whatever the weather. Hop around the gardens on our Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt, celebrate and learn about community gardening in National Gardening Week, get stuck into craft activities, and enjoy the sights and sounds of spring as our gardens burst into bloom all around you.
If you would like to attend any of the events in your capacity as a journalist please contact stephanieshepherd@rhs.org.uk

RHS Garden Wisley, Surrey
This Easter, learn how seeds travel on the Great Easter Seed Hitchhike (5-21 April 2014), exciting activities that will get kids out into the garden with music, storytelling and hands on seed activities. Little ones can join in the Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt and hop about the garden on the trail of the Lindt Gold Bunny, following clues to lead to their golden Lindt chocolate reward at the end. The gardens will be in full bloom and there will be den building and spring wildlife to spot from the hidden bird hide. Gardening stars James Wong and Joe Swift will also be on site giving talks, tips and book signings on 12 and 13 April.
Wisley will be celebrating National Gardening Week from the 14 – 20 April, which this year focuses on community gardening. Learn from the experts at spring gardening talks including lawn maintenance and tours of the Mediterranean Garden, a National Vegetable Society stand, and the RHS Daffodil Show.
Food lovers will also be in for a treat all Easter with everything from traditional marzipan-topped simnel cake to indulgent rice crispy cake studded with chocolate eggs. Our artisan bakery will be making Wisley hot cross buns – enjoy them in the garden or buy a bag to take home – and the restaurant will be serving a seasonal Easter-inspired-menu.

RHS Garden Harlow Carr, North Yorkshire
Harlow Carr will be celebrating Easter with Bloom and Zoom (5-21 April), a range of colourful activities to fill up the holidays. Join the Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt, help celebrate the lead up to the Tour De France in Yorkshire, meet the Easter Bunny and enjoy live performances from the Harrogate International Youth Festival. Youngsters can also create their own ‘Plant Pal’ at sow and grow workshops, make paper flower sculptures, bunting and join in interactive storytelling sessions.
Harlow Carr joins the National Gardening Week fun from the 14 – 20 April with advisors on hand to offer free tips and expertise. The theme this year is all about community gardening, so to celebrate the 50th anniversary of RHS Britain in Bloom, Harlow Carr will be hosting golden sunflower seed planting events.

RHS Garden Rosemoor, Devon
Get crafty with Rosemoor’s Bloom & Zoom workshops, hop around the garden on the new Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt with a golden Lindt chocolate treat at the end for all participants. Or discover Rosemoor's beautiful sights on a family adventure walk. Little ones can get crafty and make funky felt flowers or fantastic flying machines in workshops, or plant their own sunflowers in paper pots.
Rosemoor will be kicking off National Gardening Week (14 – 20 April) with inspirational talks from Britain in Bloom judge Grenville Johnson as well as sow and grow activities for families and wildflower walks.

RHS Garden Hyde Hall, Essex
Come along to Hyde Hall for fun Easter activities. From the Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt to craft activities and kite flying, there's something to see and do, whatever the weather. Track down some Easter wildlife at the bird hide, go looking for brown hares in the meadows or spot some ducklings on the pond. Kids can go scavenging for natural materials and then use them to create imaginary creatures or woodland colleges at the Easter family activity days (7 – 10 and 14 – 17 April).
Hyde Hall will be getting into the National Gardening Week (14 – 20 April) spirit with garden highlight walks, meet the Horticulturalist sessions to give visitors insight into how the RHS gardens and photographic displays.
